Two ways to wear it
From a barely-there tint to full colour.
Colour is built in soft, translucent layers over two appointments, defining the lip subtly without a hard line. How much colour, and how much definition, is entirely your choice — talked through together at your consultation.

Colour & shape
The longest appointment. We balance the shape to your natural lip line and work through colour theory for your skin tone and undertone, then place the first layer of pigment.
Then
The healing period
Six to eight weeks. You’ll follow a personalised seven-day aftercare routine and take away a full heal guide, so you leave the clinic confident you know how to look after your new lips.

Polish & blend
Once healed, we perfect the shape, replace any pixels lost during healing and build the depth of colour if you’d like more. This is where the result settles.

Helen is trained in lip neutralisation, an advanced permanent makeup technique for working with melanin-rich skin.

How long does permanent lip colour last?
Lip colour is long-lasting but softens gradually over time. How long it holds depends on your skin, sun exposure and lifestyle, so there is no single figure that applies to everyone. When the colour starts to look lighter than you would like, a refresh appointment brings it back, and Helen will tell you when one is likely to be due.
Will my lips look like I am wearing lipstick?
Only if you want them to. Colour is built in soft, translucent layers over two appointments, so the finish can be anything from a barely-there tint that looks like your own lips on a good day to a fuller wash of colour. There is no hard line around the edge. How much colour and definition you have is entirely your choice and is agreed together at your consultation.
Why does lip colour look darker straight after treatment?
Freshly treated lips look brighter and stronger than the final result. Over the first week or so the colour softens noticeably as the lips heal, and it can look quite faint for a while before it blooms back. That is why your top-up is six to eight weeks later, once everything has settled, when Helen perfects the shape and builds more colour if you want it.
I get cold sores. Can I still have my lips done?
Yes, but lip treatments can trigger a cold sore in people who are prone to them, so Helen will recommend a short course of antiviral tablets, usually taken for five days before and five days after your appointment. Your pharmacist or GP can advise on the right product for you. Helen talks this through at your consultation, so there is nothing to worry about.
Is permanent lip colour an alternative to filler?
It is a different approach. Permanent lip colour does not add volume, but redefining a faded border, evening out small asymmetries and restoring warmth can make lips look noticeably fuller and healthier. Many clients who considered filler find that colour and definition give them the look they wanted, in a completely natural way.
What is lip neutralisation?
Lip neutralisation is an advanced permanent makeup technique for working with melanin-rich skin, correcting natural lip tone before colour is built. Helen is trained in it, and it is assessed individually at consultation, because whether it is right for you depends on your natural lip tone and the result you would like.
